Harris Impact on Money Game

August 22, 2024

Kamala Harris reinvigorated the Democratic base, and jump started the Democrat campaign’s bank account. When Joe Biden was at the top of the ticket in early July, there was only $96 million in his committee account. There’s nearly twice as much cash since Harris has taken over.

By The Numbers:

  • The Harris campaign announced raising $310 million July, more than double what the Trump campaign raised during the same time ($139 million). Harris also outspent the Trump campaign last month, $81 million to $24 million.

  • As of July 31, the Trump campaign had $151.3 million cash on hand, while the Harris campaign had $219.7 million. At the end of June, Trump was leading Biden in cash on hand, $128 million to $96 million.

  • MAGA, Inc., Trump’s super PAC, had $124.5 million cash on hand, compared to the $124.3 million cash on hand Future Forward PAC, the leading super PAC supporting Harris.

The Bottom Line: The swap at the top of their ticket, the quick consolidation of the party behind Ms. Harris and a successful convention have made for a good few weeks for Democrats. The table could reset after Labor Day. The Trump campaign is already showing signs of focusing on the key issues of economy/inflation, border security and crime. If the GOP stays on that path, it’ll help swing the enthusiasm lead back to them and boost Trumps’ bank accounts as the election’s most critical phase begins.
