Voters Split on Trump Proposals

March 27, 2025

A recent Fox News poll found that just over 60 days into his second term, voters are split on President Donald Trump’s policy proposals. Policies like getting men out of girls’ sports are extremely popular, while closing the Department of Education are less so.

By The Numbers:

  • The most popular policies were routinely advocated during the 2024 campaign. Sixty-eight percent of voters favor Trump’s proposal to ban biological males from female sports; 66% favor making English the official language and 63% favor deporting illegal immigrants. A majority favor acknowledging only two genders (54%) and increasing drilling and oil production (53%).

  • Only 26% of voters favor the United States taking over Greenland; 31% favor renaming the Gulf of Mexico; 32% favor closing the Department of Education and 39% favor the U.S. taking over the Panama Canal.

  • Voters are just almost evening split on ending DEI programs and significantly reducing the number of federal employees, though slightly more Americans oppose rather than support the president’s position.

The Bottom Line: The Trump Administration is delivering big wins on some issues that were important to voters last fall, like border security. It’d be wise to focus on those and not let the less popular actions distract from the agenda that won last November.
