Americans’ Dissatisfied with Vaccine Rollout:

February 25, 2021

A late January Gallup poll found that two-thirds of Americans are dissatisfied with the vaccine rollout in the U.S.  Among those unhappy, 45% were “dissatisfied” and 21% were “very dissatisfied.”  Only 34% were happy with how the vaccination process is going with 30% only “satisfied” and 4% “very satisfied.”

ublicans were the most satisfied with the vaccination process at the end of January, with 49% satisfied and 51% dissatisfied.  That compares to just 37% of Independents and 22% of Democrats who were satisfied. Sixty-three percent of Independents and 79% of Democrats were dissatisfied with the vaccine rollout.  Part of their dissatisfaction may have been due to their distrust of President Donald Trump and his overall handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, though much of the vaccination logistics fell to states to handle.

As President Joe Biden has taken the driver’s seat, it will be interesting to if attitudes change about the vaccine rollout and who Americans hold responsible for any short-comings.  Do people believe it is the federal government’s role to organize and distribute the vaccine effectively?  Or does it fall on state governments to take the baton once the federal government provides the supply?  If the latter, governors like New Jersey’s Phil Murphy and Virginia’s Ralph Northam will have to answer for botched vaccine rollouts that were so incompetent
