The Make American Health Again (MAHA) movement was one of the more unique parts of the coalition that helped deliver the White House for President Donald Trump in 2024. Many of the Administration’s early health-related decisions–from the selection of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the Secretary of Health and Human Services to food pyramid revisions –were wins for this group. However, the latest POLITICO poll shows mixed reviews on MAHA progress.

By The Numbers:
Overall, 52% of Americans said the Trump Administration has done enough to make America healthy again. Only 26% said the Administration has not done enough.
However, 41% of self-described Trump 2024 voters said the Administration has done enough to make America healthy again, while 40% said the Administration hasn’t done enough. Comparatively, 69% of self-described Harris voters said the Administration has done enough, while only 15% said the Administration hasn’t done enough.
Peeling back the onion even further, self-identifying MAHA supporters are more evenly split. Forty-seven percent said the Trump Administration has done enough to make America healthy again, while 45% said the Administration has not.
The Bottom Line: These results should serve as a warning that neither party can take these voters for granted. Part of the challenge is that even the movement’s own members have a difficult time identifying its priorities. Looking ahead to November, both parties have opportunities. Republicans can keep winning over these voters around issues like making foods healthier, reducing the number of chemicals used in foods, and prioritizing exercise. Meanwhile, Democrats could use pesticides as a wedge to grab MAHA voters in close races.
